2019 Ford Flex vehicles do not follow the rules. Assuming the rules include a strict classification of SUVs, carts and minivans, along with the provision that each vehicle must be updated every two or three years. Instead, Flex exists in the universe in particular, where functionality wins over style and where it is acceptable to cover various elements of the automotive to become a true crossover SUV. Fortunately, Flex has the right attributes to understand in this universe too. Within the boundaries of the box are three rows of seating with generous space for up to seven occupants and the option to carry cargo that really makes it, um, flexible. Rivals like the Honda Pilot and Toyota Highlander tend to have relatively high beltlines, but the kids who sit in Flex have good outside views.
2019 Ford Flex Latest Features
The previous mention of the renewal of an ordinary vehicle, or its absence, applies here. Flex 2019 came to the last year’s model without significant changes. And we were very unimpressed that last year’s model dropped the choice of the rear seat entertainment system. In style, Flex hasn’t changed since its debut in 2009.
So many vehicles dedicated to family life, like most minivans, are often the duty to drive. Again, the 2019 Flex forges its own path with smooth ride quality (thanks in part to the long wheelbase – the distance between the front and rear axles) mixed with clever settings.
From stretched highways to tight urban maneuvers, Flex takes everything calmly. When reversing, the compact back makes easy distance judgments. But the standard rear camera and rear parking sensor are always accepted.
The basic 287-horsepower engine is strong enough to get comfort up to speed on the highway and make passing movements, while the turbocharged option brings the extra boost we all want occasionally. Both versions can attract up to 4,500 pounds with Class III crane packages. Blind-spot monitoring is available, but no more advanced features such as road maintenance assistance. The cab is generally quiet, although a larger wheel / tire combination can create more road noise.
With this option, everyone in Flex gets a sky view, which prevents even rear passengers from feeling closed. Glass panels consist of a moonroof in front, twin skylights above the second row, and one large skylight above the third line.
Ford’s audio / information settings continue to increase, and Synchronization 3 (standard on SEL and Limited trim) is the best. Easy to see and use, this touch screen based system is compatible with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto smartphone integration.
2019 Ford Flex Exterior
Inspired perhaps by Lego, the rectangular Flex has its charm. Very functional things are often interesting. Large glass area – to the side and (optional) above – brings comfortable air to the cabin while contributing to excellent outside vision. Flex has dimensions similar to minivans, but appears as cooler. Raise the height slots between regular sedans and SUVs, so entries and solutions may be easy and dignified, while tying children to a chair won’t scare their parents. An optional powered truck tub on SEL, standard in Limited – but does not offer impressive foot-operated action found in the Ford Explorer.
2019 Ford Flex Interior
Flex 2019 comes standard with three rows of seats. A pair of premium seats is optional for the second row above the two trims, taking counting counters from seven to six. But they also make access to the third row easier. The second and third rows are folded flat to create the maximum cargo space of 83.2 cubic feet. Even behind the second row stalk 43.2 cubic feet. Thanks to the split function and the front passenger seat also folds down, long objects like an 8 foot ladder can walk on one side.
2019 Ford Flex Engine
Propulsion for Flex 2019 comes from naturally aspirated 3.5-liter V6, or optional 3.5-liter turbocharged V6. Standard machines do their job well enough to make alternatives more fun than necessities. Although both engines are fine with ordinary unleaded gasoline (turbocharged engines often require premium gas), fuel economy is not as good as crossover-SUV rivals like Honda Pilot and Toyota Highlander. The only transmission is 6-speed automatic; The turbo version in the Limited model also has a paddle shifter mounted on the steering wheel for a bit more fun. Front-wheel drive (FWD) is the default setting.
2019 Ford Flex Prices
The price of the Ford Flex 2019 starts at 31,569, which is the Suggested Retail Price of the Manufacturer (MSRP) plus a $ 995 destination fee. This is for the beginner-level SE trim. A smarter purchase is SEL, from $ 36,235, not only because of additional standard equipment but also qualifies for other options. The Limited Trim starts at $ 39,785. Loaded with turbocharged engines and other features, Flex Limited 2019 can break the $ 48,000 mark. Flex ord is expected to perform poorly compared to rival crossover-SUV.
